the chronicles of (so)narnia : June 20th
Madness: Silly ska, definitely sonar material...NOT.
Diplo: Masters of the Universe. When Nirvana meets P. diddy and you know it can't get any better... it does!
Justice: Daft Punk as a sect. Never be alone went straight to the heart though...
Boys Noize: More like noisy boys.
2manydjs: Replacing Erol Alkan is not a fun job, and they let us feel it.
Yelle: went in, went out. Really bad sound system.
Hercules and the Love Affair: where they even there? The big bosomed dancer and narsty trumpeteers where a great decoy. I was so puzzled by their taking over the stage, that it took me like 20 minutes to realize how bad the music was.
Frankie Knuckles: Papi fait sa star.
HIGHLIGHT OF THE NIGHT: THEO PARRISH
we love him and will be having more of him, very soon.

the blog post about nothing
Q: What do Jerry, George, Elaine, Kramer and rapper Wale have in common?
(hints: you ain't gettin' none, the album art and title are pretty self-explanatory.)
A: A BRAND NEW MIXTAPE
The mixtape about nothing inspired by Seinfeld (a.k.a the show about nothing) was released on the 30th of May by 10 DEEP NYC . Every song on the tracklist is named after an episode. Apparently, this mixtape is Wales shout-out on the slowing down and the shallowness of the hip hop scene (cf. track 15)... whateva... All I know is that when two of my favourite things in the world (hip hop & seinfeld) collide, I's a happy camper.
Nick Catchdubs mixed it and you can download it here

Indie/Rock Playlist *Burp...
After listening to 3 Indie/Rock Playlist compilations (2008/02, 2008/04, 2008/05) it feels like someone has fast forwarded 100 versions of Franz Ferdinand's Do You Want To, 200 versions of some crappy Alanis Morissette song and another 100 covers of a 92 Green Day hit played by Ph.D students through my mind.
I will remember Dan Deacon though:

AAA
If there's still anything left of a pop-rock lovin' teeny bopper in you, check out André Allen Anjo's (slightly pretentious) Remix Artist Collective Vol 1.

I call it the tectonik blues
French kids manage to make me feel outdated, out of p(l)ace... ( a bit like when you see your mom dancing to numa numa yay at some wedding, gettin jiggy with it with her best salsa moves, but worse). Quoting Dr. Phil, i'm losing my edge and this terrible blow to my ego does not go without grudge agains the young gauls.
With the tectonik revolution, the frogs were pretty much holding up the bastion of neat moves by themselves, until Shorty Capone presented us with Dude n'dem.
US kids whipping the frenchies ass...
Revenge is sweet.
Put some ketchup on those freedom fries!

Mexican Connection
A Mexican friend recommended me a couple of Mexican bands, check out Maria Daniela y su Sonido Lasser.
Isohunt replied to another of his recommendations, "Nortec" with April 2008's Indie/Rock Playlist torrent.
A new Indie/Rock Playlist is seeded every month, there's also a group revolving around it at Last.fm. I'm downloading all of them from november 2007, I'll write about anything worth it here.
